MB Biblical Seminary Author Releases Second Book in Spanish

On May 27th, 2005, six years after the release of Mark D. Baker's book Religious No More: Building Communities of Grace and Freedom, a Spanish revision entitled !Basta de religion!: como construer comunidades de gracia y libertad is now in print.

During ten years serving as missionaries in Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras, Mark and his wife Lynn developed a special relationship with Amor Fe y Vida, a church in a squatter's community. Through conversation and questions during a study of Galations, the idea for a book was born.

!Basta de religion!: como construer communidades de gracia y libertad is Baker's fourth published book and second in Spanish. In adapting the book into Spanish, Baker did not want to simply translate it directly from English. Rather, he replaced sections that were focused on the North American context with material that was more applicable to a Latin American audience.

"I dedicated the book to (my friends in Amor Fe y Vida) and was glad I could present it to them in person and observe their enthusiasm for seeing our project in print," wrote Baker after he returned from a trip to Honduras this summer.
The book will be promoted both in North America and Latin America. Baker, now an associate professor of mission and theology at MB Biblical Seminary, is excited about the possibility of the book being used by other churches in similar contexts in Latin America.

Baker's work as an author fits into MB Biblical Seminary's goal of inspiring and equipping men and women to be disciples of Christ, and to serve and lead in the church and the world. The Seminary, which has campuses in Fresno, California, Langley, British Columbia and Winnipeg, Manitoba, has trained many church leaders from Latin America and around the world.
