August 2021 Alumni Update

Shondra Walker (BA ’08) became principal at Delano High School. She was previously principal at Delano’s Wonderful College Prep Academy.

Irma Padilla (BA ’14) received the Teacher of the Year Award from the Tulare County Hispanic Leadership Network (TCHLN). She currently serves as the communications director of TCHLN, part-time instructor for the IMPACT program and as curriculum and instruction specialist at Lindsay Unified School District.

Shantay Davies-Balch (BA ’15) was honored for excelling professionally, serving as a role model and giving back to her community at the 38th annual Top Ten Professional Women and Leading Business Awards by the Marjaree Mason Center in Fresno.

Gabrielle Rodriguez Hernandez (BA ’20) works at Adventist Health in Reedley, CA, as a materials management associate.

FPU Distinguished Alumni Award recipient Yammilette Rodriguez (MA ’06) has been appointed to the California State University Board of Trustees. She has been national trainer and consultant for the Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) since 2020 and had been Central Valley senior director at YLI for 11 years.

H. James Hopkins (BA '78) appeared on Mosaic, on KPIX, Channel 5 (CBS TV) in San Francisco, August 29. He is the pastor of Lakeshore Avenue Baptist Church in Oakland, CA.
