Peter Kopriva, Ed.D. and wife present at two national conferences

Peter Kopriva, Ed.D., professor of early childhood development and special education, and his wife, Sijmontje Renema-Kopriva, M.A., a special education teacher at Edith Storey Elementary School, Fresno, will be presenting at two national conferences:

* The 33rd Annual Conference of the American Council on Rural Special Education, March 19-22, 2014, at the Marriott Tucson University Park in Tucson, Arizona.

* The Council For Exceptional Children (CEC) 2014 Convention and Expo, April 9-12, 2014, in Philadelphia. CEC is the nation's largest professional organization of its kind.

Their presentation, "Children Such As These: Daily Challenges of the Physical and Health Impaired Child," is the product of a year-long study by the Koprivas of four children at Edith Storey. The presentation addresses the social theory of learning, current research involving social-skills instruction and teaching methods such as video self-modeling and formal and informal instructional materials.Highlights include a multimedia presentation using digital photography, video and PowerPoint created with the assistance of the FPU Center for Online Learning.
