August-September 2020 Alumni Update

Alice Smith (Bennett, BA ’86) is the accounting manager for Students International based in Visalia, CA.

Aaron Walls (BA ’11) is head of school at Lakeview Christian Academy, a prekindergarten-12th grade school located in Duluth, MN.

Andrea McCord (TC ’14, BA ’13) was named Madera County Teacher of the Year in May 2020. Earlier that month she was among 26 teachers honored as “Distinguished Teachers of the Year” by Madera Unified School District and teacher of the year at Martin Luther King Middle School, where she teaches history. maderatribune.com/single-post/2020/05/16/MUSD-Teachers-of-the-Year-announced

Richard Rawls (BA ’87) professor of history at Georgia Gwinnett College, earned the college’s Outstanding Teacher Award September 24, 2020. The award spotlights excellence in helping students become adept in an academic discipline. Rawls was lauded for his ability to immerse students in their studies, and the guidance he offers students after they graduate. A native of Biloxi, MS., Rawls grew up in Fresno. In addition to his B.A. from FPU, he has an M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary and a master’s and Ph.D. from Emory University. Richard is a former director of Hiebert Library and history faculty at FPU, and his wife, Janita, a former dean of the FPU School of Business, is an associate professor of management and assistant dean of the school of business at GGC. The couple has two children. Located near Atlanta, GGC is part of the University System of Georgia.

Jennifer Beccera (MA ’09, TC ’06, BA ‘02) works for Woodlake United School District as learning director: curriculum and instruction.

Wonjoun Park (BA ’06) is operations manager at Ohana Depot (a patio furniture company) during the day, but his main job is as worship leader at Seattle (WA) Hansarang Church where he leads the praise.
