Several Fresno Pacific University faculty and staff were involved in the Council of Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) Diversity Conference October 4-5, 2019, at George Fox University, Newberg, OR.

Melanie Howard, Ph.D., assistant professor and program director of biblical and theological studies,

presented “‘A Suitable Helper?’ The Bible as a Partner in College Campus Diversity Work.”

Martha Fregoso, admission counselor, presented “Servicing, Mentoring, and Equipping Dreamer Students.”

During the conference, FPU was publicly recognized by CCCU President Shirley Hoogstra as being the only one of the 180 member schools worldwide to have an African American president. 

Other FPU representatives included Andrew Shinn, MBA, business instructor, representing the University Diversity Committee; Ron Herms, Ph.D., dean, School of Humanities, Religion & Social Sciences; Taylor Starks, admission counselor, and staff members from the Office of Spiritual Formation & Diversity: Vicencia Abundis, director of women’s ministry; Brian Davis, associate pastor of spiritual formation; and Breanne Wyse, director of chapel programs and spiritual formation.
