The building opened in October 1962 as the fourth, and largest, structure on a campus that was only two years old. The library was named for Cornelius Hiebert, who gave the major gift for construction. John and Maria Lohrenz, missionaries in India, were also large contributors.
All music played during the break was recorded in 1962, including Chubby Checker, Bob Dylan and Miles Davis. Each record is from the library's collection, which is available for checkout. Also new this fall is the "Unquiet Library," where guests can listen to and discuss music from the extensive library archive.
