Duerksen receives grant to encourage racial equity and interfaith cooperation

Darren Duerksen, Ph.D., associate professor and program director of intercultural and religious studies, was awarded a $1,000 Racial Equity & Interfaith Cooperation Award from Interfaith Youth Core as part of its We Are Each Other’s Campaign. Duerksen will share the award with frequent collaborator Reza Nekamunesh, director of the Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno. The two will create a two-week course module in Duerksen’s Spring 2021 Religions of the World class that integrates insights from critical race theory, interfaith studies and case studies/testimonials on how faith communities can collaborate to challenge systemic racism.
