Randy White, D.Min., executive director of the Center for Community Transformation at Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary, spoke at SATtalks (Sustainability And Transformation), October 24-26, 2018, in Kansas City, KS. White described Fresno’s method of developing creative approaches to addressing poverty by equipping churches and community benefit organizations to start businesses that employ people with barriers to employment. His TED-style talk to city leaders shared about the “Spark Tank” events that have helped launch 38 social enterprises locally. Last year enterprises generated $1.2m in revenue and employed 122 people. He also presented a workshop for those wishing to develop a social enterprise space in their city, and was on a panel discussing best practices. More at SATtalk.org
