Duane Ruth-Heffelbower, J.D., M.Div., associate professor of peacemaking and conflict studies/business, published "The mediator is in – the courthouse" in the Fresno County Bar Association's Bar Bulletin. The article describes the work of FPU Mediation Services http://mediation-services.co. The Center for Peacemaking and Conflict Studies provides professional mediators and graduate student interns to litigants at the Sisk Courthouse in Fresno to handle civil, family, probate, conservatorship and guardianship cases. These services are provided under a contract with the court in which the court provides part of the funding and client fees pay the rest. CPACS began this relationship with the court in 1999 handling only indigent civil cases.
